Veles Digital is a custom AI development agency from Belgrade. We design and build AI systems for SMB owners, SaaS founders, and operators across Europe. Small team, senior people, real code, two-to-eight-week project cycles.
Who we are
Veles Digital is a two-person engineering team. Igor Medic and Nikola Kosanin started the company because the gap between "I duct-taped this in Zapier" and "I need a six-month enterprise consulting engagement" was wide enough to drive a truck through, and most agencies were standing on either side of it instead of inside it.
We are based in Belgrade, Serbia. We work remotely with clients across Europe (Germany, Netherlands, UK, Nordics, France) and occasionally further. About half our work is cross-border. Time zone overlap with EU is excellent and the mornings work for North American handoffs.
We are the people who scope your project, the people who build it, and the people who answer your questions six months after launch. No sub-contracting, no body shops, no "selling senior and delivering junior".
Why we exist
Most AI projects fail one of two ways. Either they get over-scoped into a six-month consulting engagement that burns budget before shipping anything, or they get under-scoped into a no-code stack that breaks the moment volume picks up. Both failures are predictable from week one. Both happen because nobody sat down with the operator long enough to understand the actual problem.
Veles fills the gap. We do real engineering on focused projects, ship working software in 2-8 weeks, and stay available when something needs tuning. That is the whole pitch. We do not have to be clever about positioning because the problem is obvious to anyone who has tried to buy custom AI in 2026.
How we work
Four short stages: Discovery, Scope and Estimate, Build, Launch and Operate. Each one short, each one ending in something concrete you can review. The full methodology lives on the process page, including how we estimate cost without a tiered pricing table.
A few things we do differently:
Weekly demos, not slide decks. You see real working software at the end of each sprint. You can ask for changes mid-build without paperwork
Fixed price for agreed scope. No "starting from" numbers. No surprise invoices. Out-of-scope changes get a written addendum with a price you sign off on
Same team end-to-end. The engineers who scope, build, and operate the system are the same people you talked to on the discovery call
AI proposes, humans approve. Where AI handles work that affects customers or revenue, we design explicit human-in-the-loop checkpoints. We do not push agents into production and hope
Where we are
Belgrade, Serbia. We run remote from offices in the city and we are EU-jurisdiction (which matters for GDPR + EU AI Act compliance, both of which we are compliant with by default).
We work in English and Serbian. Most documentation, internal tooling, and client communication is in English. Serbian-language deliverables for SR-market clients are native, not translated. The site you are reading exists in both languages because the team does too.

Both co-founders are senior engineers. Both ship code. Both run discovery calls. You will not get handed off to a junior after the first meeting.
Lead engineer on AI integration, backend systems, and infrastructure. Designs the AI behavior layer (prompt engineering, tool use, retrieval, evaluation) and owns the scoping conversation with new clients. Background in custom software development for cross-border B2B clients.
Lead engineer on frontend, product design, and the parts of every project where a human has to actually use the system. Owns the dashboard work and the customer-facing surfaces. The reason Veles ships software people can operate without a manual.
What we believe
Opinions we hold strongly enough to act on. Not a manifesto. Just the principles that explain why our projects look different from the generic AI agency offering.
Custom AI is engineering, not prompting. Real systems need integration, evaluation, error handling, monitoring, and ongoing tuning. Anyone who pitches "we will write you a great ChatGPT prompt" is selling you a hobby project.
Humans approve revenue-critical actions. AI proposes. Humans decide. Every system we build has explicit checkpoints where a person stays in the loop on anything that touches money, customers, or compliance.
Fixed scope and fixed price beat hourly billing. Hourly bills incentivize agencies to take longer. Fixed price aligns us with you. We absorb the risk of underestimating ourselves because that is what professionals do.
Own your code, own your data. Every project ends with you owning the source code, the data, and the documentation. We will gladly stay on a retainer if you want, but only if it adds value, never because the system is hostage to us.
Two weeks beats two months when the answer is "no". If a project is wrong for custom AI, we will tell you on the discovery call. We have turned down profitable work because it would have wasted a client's money. The 30 minutes are worth it for both sides.
Boring beats clever. A clear dashboard with three numbers beats a beautiful dashboard with thirty. A focused agent that handles 80% of inbound messages beats a flexible agent that handles 100% poorly. We optimize for the version that actually gets used.
